Default 2004 5.4 3v Low Oil Pressure

Hey, guys I need your help. The truck dies every time I stop. Then the low oil pressure light comes on. I was wondering do you guys have any suggestion for fixing the problem?

I have been saving up for a new motor cause this truck has a ton of miles(293K), but I wont be able to buy it until like Feb or March. If any fix is over $300 - $400 I'll just park it until the spring.

Try dropping it in neutral when you're coming to a stop. If it resolves the stalling you're probably looking at a bad torque convertor. Has the engine lost any power or is it just the stalling at stops?

I will give that a shot tomorrow. I have been putting in neutral just to start it back up at stop signs and lights.

One mind is telling to change the oil and filter to see what happens, but I just change the oil last month. Filled her up with 7 quarts.

Changing your oil has nothing to do with your engine stalling. It is possible your torque convertor isn't unlocking properly.

you get the low oil pressure light because the engine is not running therefore no oil pressure.

I agree with the other about your torque convertor not unlocking and stalling the engine. I had a 2k F150 that did the same thing it was fixed under warranty

Small update, I talked to my uncle who is a works at Firestone. He told me it could be a number of things. He told me to start off by pulling the codes any codes I can. Then clean the MAF senson, then maybe change the coil packs. He told to get back to him after I pulled the codes.

Also, when I put the truck in neutral at a stop. It still stalls out but takes a little longer then when I have it in drive.

So I'll update again after I pull the codes.

Before doing the cam phasers, our's would shut off at every stop. Are you having phaser issues? Just throwing an idea at you.

Yes, I have the phaser issue. It has the diesel sound. After research, I thought cam phasers were just an annoying issue. But this could be the source of my problems.

As far as the spark plugs go, I haven't change them. I brought the truck about 2 months ago dirt cheap. Guy I brought it from said he already changed them. Engine wasn't backfiring then so I didn't bother to change them.

After doing the phasers, our's runs fine. No more diesel knock or stalling at stops. The passenger side one fell apart after removing it on our's. I would suggest getting the phasers done.
