2004 4.6 V8 new intake question
ive read alot a new intake is worth it but ive also read alot that its not worth it. i want to know what you guys think. i would want it for better throttle response and mpg's.if you say no please say why. i would want a k&n. my truck is also stock and wouldnt be getting a tuner for a long while.
i would get this one -http://www.autoanything.com/air-inta...0A2606088.aspx

well, i would eventually get all that. but it might not be a couple years. i cant afford to drop all that money right now. at least i would want all that but my mind could change. i guess basically what im asking is the difference/performance with the intake noticeable enough to justify buying one?

This past week I had to take my truck back to stock, can't pass inspection where I am with a straight pipe, I have to say set up as you are and given that you probably aren't going to be doing the exhaust or getting a tuner for a while... I wouldn't make that investment. In MY opinion the gotts mod is a better option for you. I have a K&N filter and the gotts mod on my '05 4.6 (now completely stock otherwise) and I get a little better response a little more power and ALOT better mileage... went from about 16.5-17mpg highway to 19.5 or so highway.

I would say eventually get the intake. But I would/did got the exhaust first. Then I put the intake on. I am in the same boat, no tuner (can't afford one right now). The throttle response is defiantly noticeable. I'd say go with the exhaust first.

Do this, then drop in the K&N filter, think you will be very happy. Tip: if you use a piece of 3" sewer pipe you don't have to sand it to make it fit in the hole, it's more flexible and fits no problem; that's what I did on my truck.
