Default 2 question! Gearing and Bigger Tires

How much cheaper is it to regear and 2wd than 4wd?

When y'all that have 35s bought the tires, did y'all buy an extra for the spare or what?

I have a full size spare mounted in the back of my truck I can't fit it under without makeing mods. X fingers that I will never need it lol but I recomend for anyone with larger wheels lot of places will throw in the 5th tire free. At least the local tire shop I deal with usualy does.

You will love your 4.56s

save a little cash buying the gears yourslf and Taking them to the shop iNstead of them buying, unless they don't markup, that is what I did with my mustang gears

Ill get them eventually if they arent too expensive (4.56s), and Im kinda limited to the toyo open countrys cause i need a tire thatll fit stock wheels and a 9" wheel. I looked and toyo makes some 35s that fit that range. I dont really know if anyone on north alabama deals with toyo. Any online places throw a 5th in free?

Which gear shouldn't make a difference in price (4.10 vs 4.56 vs 4.88 etc) but should be cheaper also just because the rear end is so much easier to work on

I split the difference with 4.11's and 4.56's and went with 4.30's. With 33's I get good take off and passing power yet the engine only sits around 2300 rpm's at 65-70 mph. If you are getting 35's though 4.56's would be a better choice. One thing though the rearend shop said the 4.30 pinion gear is stronger then the 4.56 or 4.88 gear do to having a larger diameter. Not sure how true this is

They are stronger because they have more surface area touching each other. Generally the higher (4.56+) gears are made of a stronger metal though.
