Default I've been bleached

About a month ago someone decided it would be funny to put bleach in my gas tank. I had a full tank so they couldn't put much in but I did drive it till it stalled out not knowing it was in there. Insurance covered a new tank and fuel pump plus an injector service. I had all the work done at a Ford dealer. The tech who is a good friend took the truck home for the weekend and said it seem to run fine but was slightly missing at idle. I just did plugs on it today and the were rusted and smelt like 15 year gas. I drove it for 20 minutes or so and still has the miss but not as bad. I was thinking about doing injectors next. Anyone have any suggestions on brand and lbs. What else should I look in to doing fuel rails and or pressure regulator????

Sorry to hear this. The injectors in the 5.4 3v are 24lb. Your best bet will be www.rockauto.com

Do you have the 4.2, 4.6, or 5.4?

Did you replace the COP's with the plugs? If not I would start there.

It is a 5.4 with the brown coil boots. I just replaced all the coil last year with Accel coils. I just turn 115,000 so i figured it was about time to do injectors on it anyway. I work for a auto parts store but all we carry is motorcrafe plugs wires and oil filters so ill check out rockauto. Thanks

this is terrible. let us know how the new injectors work. i would say they are part of your problem, if not all.

I don't understand whats going on here. If your truck was vandalized and your insurance company is covering the damage they should be on it until it runs as it did before the vandalism took place. BTW I am a retired AllState agent, so I know a little about this one.

If your plugs and injectors are rusty, that means the Chlorine got into the upper valvetrain and your engine is a grenade waiting to happen. I'd be on the Ins. co to put a new engine in the thing ASAP.

Chlorine is an aggressive oxidizer, and if it got into your engine, you're likely going to have cascading failures unless the engine is replaced en toto.

I haven't had the chance to put new injectors in it yet but since doing the plugs it is running a lot better. My insurance company blows. The truck was running again with no check engine light so that is all they were worried about. if it need a engine they would pay for a junkyard engine and if i wanted a new one i would have to cover 56% of the cost. i have some time off between Christmas and new years so i m thinking of doing the injectors then. I am still debating on putting new rail too. i will keep this tread updated.
