My 06 fx4 is at 193,000 with no problems except for a leaking exhaust manifold. With proper maintenance and ignoring the 5w20 "water" Ford recommends, the 5.4 is a very reliable engine very capable of 300k +.

What do you use instead.? didn't mean to hijack in anyway..thanks

5w30 Mobil1 full synthetic. Oil weight preferences have been a heated battle for a long time but I stand by my choice because it works for me.

Been using 5w20 for 130k on my 06 5.4 but I don't have the cam tick either which is the reason I have read many people use it.

Relative to 30 maybe but it's worked great for all three 04-08 F150s in my family.
