Default 09 Stereo Swap

Hi guys, so here's the story. My dad has a 2009 super duty with the 6 disc CD changer, sync, and sirius ready. He got a new in dash GPS/Radio/Everything unit for christmas and will be removing his cd changer. My CD (2004 Lariat with the 6 disc changer) changer seized up a year ago or so and the radio still works but i can't use CD's. So my question here is, will i be able to swap his stereo straight across for mine? Or will there be wiring issues? Or mounting issues? Or any issues? Thanks in advance for you help.

Craig

p.s. Sorry if this has already been adressed, I couldn't find anything in search. If it has a link would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Only way to tell is to compare the radio connector(s) to see if they match. That, and to find out the color code to the 09's radio harness. I have the 04 to 08 (posted here some time back; check the audio forum of this site).

I don't own an 09, so I don't have the wiring schematic books for these models. Check over on the 09 forum to see if anyone there has the factory shop manuals with the wiring schematics. Then we can compare.

As to mounting, again, compare the two radios side by side to see if they match up. You are fortunate to have access to your 04, and your dads 09 radio; your one step up on me.

A quick call to a dealer might help solve this problem? I know not all of them would be super helpful but some might.

Bucko, I haven't had the chance to get them seen side to side yet because he has yet to get it installed. And i'm not about to mess around with the electronics on his new truck. ha ha. So I figured i'd just ask around see if anyone knew anything so I could be a little prepared for when i do actually get my hands on it. Thanks for the info by the way.

And thats a good idea too CrashTECH, but I think what i'm going to do is ask the guys who install his new unit if the newer stereo will be compatible. Thanks for your input guys.
