So one guy says it 4 inches wider. Another guy says its 1/2" wider? So does anyone truly know or are we all just giving opinions rather than stating facts. I'm tempted to believe the 1/2" wider since he said he used a TM on an 05 and an 09 (stated facts to back up his argument).

Some guy here locally is selling a 09 Platinum, but without the bells and whistles that I want. I just sent him an email asking if I could come test fit onto my 06. Hopefully I'll get a reply of YES and will let you all know then.

Desperado, would you mind trying to put his tailgate on your truck since you have access to both vehicles already? Thanks IA

If you really want to give it a try, check out your local U-haul. They have the new body style F-150's. I was thinking of renting one and just to see what parts are interchangable....

If you have a white truck you could possible do an entire front end swap and they prob won't notice.... haha...

The over all width of the truck is wider....not just the tailgate....
check out these two links. car and driver specs for 08' and 10'

Cargo width for 08' is 62.4"
Cargo width for 10' is 65.2"

Therefore meaning the tailgate on the 10' is wider, this is the answer to your first question. Now whether it is .5" or closer to 3" you will need to measure a 10' tailgate to answer your own question.

As for it fitting....you can make anything fit if you have the $$$ for the body work....hope it works out for you, but i would stick to getting your gf to take your truck and go buy a shinny new 10' or if you wait a little longer u can get an 11'
