Default 08 XLT Super Crew with Traction Issues

Hello, I have an 08 XLT Screw with the OEM Rugged Trail rubber with 19000 miles/30000 km on them. The problem I have is that fishtales alot even roads that are not that icy. I's too the point where the wife drives 4X4 all the time as she does not trust the truck. I have driven the truck and it is squirrelly. It's gotten to the point where the wife wants me to buy a new truck as they have traction control. My question is, is there anyone else that is having such bad traction with their screws? I am willing to buy new but don't want to buy them and not fix the problem. I was thinking of getting Silent Armours. Any comment on the tires or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Spiff

It would probably help a lot to put about 100-200 lbs of weight in the back to give it better traction in the rear end.

When does it fishtail, Rain? Snow? Gravel? Dry road? Breaking traction between a rubber tire and a dry road is very difficult. Is this happening in bad weather only?

Thanks for the replies.

Jeru, generally it will fishtail on icy roads. In the snow it handles ok in 4X4.

I put about 300pounds in the back all in the center of the bed.Made an enclosure box in the bed notches so that it wouldn't all slip around and so that it puts all the weight in the center of the bed for better traction.it works for me.When not in 4wd,but still snow on the ground here,i still get very good traction, and my tires suck,lol...I will take pics tomorrow and show you what i mean.To could out right now as its -16.....
