'07 Shorty, Long-Tube Headers!?!?!
New guy to the Forum, and was hoping to get some veteran advice!!
I was looking to replace the exhaust manifolds on my F150, and was wondering...... If I replace the current manifolds and Cats with the Long-tube headers(with no cats) what would the fittage be like? Would it immediately require more mods to the rest of the exhaust system?
Also, that being said, if I were to use Shorty headers, what would the fittage be like? I'd of course prefer LT headers, but just wanted to check out my options. Thanks ahead of time guys!!!

Depends on how you intend to do it. I have shorties on mine and had a shop put them on for me because I did not feel like tackling those manifold studs on my own. They said they could have it done in four hours. I got the truck back five days later.

It depends on what header manufacturer you go with. I have American Racing Headers on my 2011 and it uses the factory catback connection and the fit is perfect no mods needed. Stainless Works offers both a factory connection and performance connection and I've heard there fit is spot on as well. Of course they cost more, but you get what you pay for. I've read quite a few members on here have used OBX long tubes and there kind of mixed reviews. Shorty headers will fit like factory manifolds or so they should, but there really isn't any performance increase or much noticeable sound increase since the factory cats are still being used.

No I don't mind. Got them from stage3motorsports and paid $1600 for them. It was big sticker price for me and took me couple months before I finally said screw it and just bought them. Took 2 weeks to receive as they are built per order, but in the end I am glad I did. The sound and the extra low end puts a smile on my face every time I am on the throttle.

Yeah, I know it's a big chunk of change but it's definitely my next big modification. Should take me a few months to save for them. Did they come with new cats? Or just fit allowing the old cats?

I want a decent set of long tube headers, im assuming i need to get high flow cats as well? Would it be eorth it to get true duals as well? Or does it kill power

They replace the factory cats and y pipe. You can choose to either have the high flow catted y pipe or the off road non catted y pipe.

You can run true duals as long as you run either an h pipe or an x pipe. You really won't have any performance gains or loses with running true duals on a stock n/a engine especially in a truck. Only difference would probably be tone being a little deeper.

Stainless Works offers Long tubes for the 2004-2008 truck for both the 5.4L and 4.6L. They are offered in with high Flow cats or Off Road Y or X pipe. The Y will connect to Factory Exhaust and the X will connect to Stainless works exhaust or if you did custom. The 5.4L header has a 1-3/4" Primary and the 4.6L is a 1-5/8" primary.
