i drive a 02 f150 and my dad has a 07 f150 both are the 5.4. i have dual straits and his exhaust is still stock. what i need to no is how loud are the 04-08 5.4s if u just remove the muffler on the stock exhaust and add a peace of pipe? or leave the stock muffler and just remove the cats?

Quite a lot of folks wanting to remove their cats in Canada these days. It's illegal in most states here in the U.S.

Trying to same some air we breathe.

There are posts from those that have done this (straight pipe for muffler or cats), some even have sound included.

i am running a muffler delete in my 07 crew, i just had the shop remove the muffler and and pipe, nice $45 mod. it's fairly loud, sounds decent, but i'm used to running true dual exhaust, x-piped with no mufflers. i would not recommend taking the cat out, your gonna throw a CEL constantly. here's a vid from the guy who i got the idea from

pretty sure in canada you have to have cats to pass emissions test, or maybe its just ontario, but i think its nation wide
but it would be stupidly loud at all times
i was thinking about removing the muffler as well, but i duno if i wanna listen to that allllllllllll the time

removing a cat does not make it that much louder, IMO i would just leave it and run duals, too much BS if you get a ticket

u dont need to tell me if its legal in ab. to take ur cats off . i didnt ask that and for every one wondering its not illegal in alberta . were the last province that its not. i took them off my truck and havent had a prob.
