Default Remote Start/ Alarms

I noticed in my former job, that when I would unlock some F 150's, the horn would blast. Is that a feature that we can turn on or off?
Also my friend has an 04 SD with a remote start system, that works with his power locks. Cycling lock and unlock 3 times starts the truck, you can't drive it any where, but its nice to turn the air on when your buddy is in the store. I have looked at the box that controls the remote start. it does not have any markings on it. does anyone know anything about it. I would love to add it to mine.

The OEM remote start is a good system but if you're looking to go aftermarket check out www.directedelectronics.com. They're the ones who make the Viper which has been proven to be one of the best alarms and remote start systems.

Go with some type of aftermarket kit, whether you won't won't with just the remote start or a facny LCD color screen. I myself have the Code Alarm SRT9000. The unit itself is very nice but I bought it when it just came out and have had a couple problems because of this. I've gone threw three remotes so far but luckily this kit comes with a spare remote while the Viper's do not. All in all I'm still happy with the unit, the one mile range is great and the fact that my truck is safe is also nice since I've got lots of electronig goodies on the inside.

no, he can be a big boy and put it in himself as it comes with a wiring diagram.

200 bucks for the OEM VS. 100 bucks for an anftermarket one. Makes a lot of sense to me.

Im assuming you already have OEM keyless entry, Ford has a kit that integrates with it and has a keyfob for it, your owners manual has the instructions on programming new key fobs.

We can talk about aftermarket units all day long and how much you are willing to spend. I have dealt with this crap since before most of the posters on this site have had drivers licenses and personally, I would only go with an OEM integrated electronic component.

I have(had) a very good quality keyless/security system in my car and added a remote start control to it with all of the wiring done by a "professional". The alarm has killed three batteries in the past two years, the remote start has been a pain to deal with when I worked on my car, and I have seen the wiring jobs done by the "techs" at best buy and circuit city, and Hack Job is the nicest I have to say about it. The only person besides myself I would trust to do ANY wiring in my car or truck is one of my friends who happens to have a masters in electrical engineering and has the wiring guy for RennTech for many years.

the choice is yours, get a general kit or an OEM spec kit.

I do have the factory key less entry. I have no problem installing my own stuff in fact I prefer to. I let a stereo shop install a Kenwood in my 95 T-Bird back in 95. I was disgusted with the install. had the shop owner replace the speakers that they duct taped, and reran all the wires myself. I have worked on cars and trucks all my life.
What I was trying to find out, is if anyone knew anything about this specific remote start. its not necessary to use a remote to start it. It uses the factory Key Fob, because it works off the door locks. If a passenger is sitting in your truck, and it gets hot they can press unlock ang lock 3 times and the truck will start. once the brake is pressed the truck shuts down.
