Default 06 fx4 underhood corrosion

My son just bought an 06 fx4.I noticed when i checked it out for the first time i noticed all the aluminum surfaces under hood were corroded like they had been under salt spray. The engine had been detailed prior to purchase but the whiteish corrosion on the aluminum was everywhere. The u joint for the steering column was badly corroded.I just happened to pop the hood and take a peek and couldnt believe the amount of salt and sand atop the motor on the drivers side. The whole underside of the hood is plastered with sand and salt on the drivers side. This truck has 20" wheels.I noticed some pretty huge gaps between the tire and wheel well area under the hood. Here in New Hampshire, salt and corrosion is a real problem, but its seems like this truck is gonna have major issues before long if i cant quell this salt spraying up under the hood and onto the engine.Sorry for the long post.My question is DO ALL 06 F150 TRUCKS IN NEW ENGLAND HAVE SALT AND SAND SLOPPING UP UNDER THE HOOD IN NORMAL WINTER DRIVING?Thanks for your time

I have an 08 F150 4x4 that I bought last January, have the same concerns. I live in Mass. and cannot believe the debris under the hood. I asked the dealer mechanic about this and he said this is normal.

Normal? wow thats amazing it looks like those trucks were at the bottom of the ocean with the Tiitanic. I would keep an eye on that problem or go back to the dealer for a more detailed, detail job.

Default f150 underhood corrosion

I hope more new england f150 owners chime in on this concern.I checked 2 other trucks at my work today. Both were crust with salt and mud on the engine top and interior hood.Very poor job by ford engineers.I have never had an older ford with this problem.Long term longevity of these trucks here in New England looks pretty bleak. My sons truck had a sticker price of $38000.You would expect more for that price.Wake up Ford.

I live in Michigan and have an 08...I certainly do not want to run into these problems. Would get hurt spraying down the engine compartment once a week with a high pressure hose?

I had my 150 undercoated with ruststop undercoating its an oil coating when i noticed sines of corrosion and has helped a lot.The only thing with the stuff when you work under the hood you cant help but get it on your clothes.good luck.
