Sorry in advance for the long post . I just acquired a 06f150 with the 4.6 . Has high miles (200k) ran good when I picked it up didn't make a sound . Been sitting for the last month or so, I start it up and run it around the yard Atleast once a week but it's not registerd so I don't take it on the road . I started it up today and took it down the road to my buddies house and when I got there it was making a light knock at idle , sounds like it's coming from down low . It's only at idle and goes away if you step it up . Not related to Rpms . I crawled underneath it and it sounds like it coming from the back of the motor or bell housing area but I know how sound can travel threw engines . The truck will idle for hours and not make a noise until you put it in drive and go down the road . It does have a tourque converter shutter in reverse so might be that . I was just hoping someone could point me in the right direction . Thanks in advance

Anyone? It can hear a slight knocking on driver side valve cover but is the loudest the closer you get to the flex plate

You have a 4.6 and don't have cam phasers, so you can rule that out.

Inwas wondering that but couldn't seem to get a straight awnser either yes or no, so thanks for that . Now to start crossing other things off the list
