Default 06 5.4 raw fuel smell

I have a 06 5.4L with no mods that has a raw fuel smell. Originally you could only smell it when the heat was on, but this morning I let it warm up and when I went outside I could smell the raw fuel smell from outside the truck. This afternoon the truck started skipping so I stopped and had a diagnostic test ran on it and it showed cylinder 7 and 8 misfire and also the #1 coil bad. The tech cleared the codes without fixing it. I pulled out with intentions of trading the vehicle, but it ran fine once I pulled out of the parking lot. I replaced all plugs and coils in January.

I also have started hearing a ticking noise from under the hood.

Any suggestions??????

I'm going through it as we type. Fuel rail pressure sensor and you just helped me come to a conclusion because I've been hearing a rattle for about 3 months now thinking it was one of my cats but my muffler guy said nothing wrong with exhaust. Just go ahead and order one unless you want one from ford for about $200 bucks

Mine was doing the same thing - misfire, raw fuel smell, ticking. They did not torque the plugs correctly after a plug change and some backed out. I removed the plugs - some came out with my fingers - cleaned them, and reinstalled to about 40 or so lbs. 12,000 miles later and no problems.

I never thought of my plugs being loose because they were changed 3-4 months ago and I have that rattling sound

That's some good 411 Gatorb8 thanks a lot. I understand what to do but my mechanic is sure that the part that I need to check and that the diagram is saying is in the FRPS so why not just order one and change it out. I'm on 113k miles
