If I don't engage my 4x4 every few days I have to go under and tap on the actuator. Should I just replace it or is there another issue?

i just went thru the same issue. I went ahead and just replaced mine. Because they get all gunked up. I bought a new one at o'reillys for like $112. Easy to replace, i will link the video here that I used to help guide me thru the process if I can find it.
