A/C running causes engine to lope and lunge while idling
I'm not sure if the other posts along this thread are of the same problem so I thought I would post as well (I can't find the icon to post a brand new thread, someone point me in the right direction please). I have a 97 F150 4.2L and I have a similar problem. When I have the A/C on and come to a stop the A/C will continue to run cold for about 10-15 seconds. At that point the engine idle starts going a little crazy, the truck will lunge forward to the point where extra pressure has to be applied to the brake pedal to avoid rear ending the person in front of me. Then the A/C starts blowing hot air and the truck will still lunge every 10-15 seconds. The A/C won't start blowing cold again until I get going again, but will continue to do it every time I come to a stop. I had the entire A/C system and the radiator replaced about 3-4 years ago, because it was basically doing the same thing. Please help, it's hotter than hell here!!
