1. It is much cheaper that way, but as Dunes stated in another thread make sure they do the path from the front to back. Find the system you like, get teh diagram off of their sire and have the shop map it the same with their Mandrel Bent Tubing.

That is all you need. Let me back up for a min.
Do plan on trying to use the stock pipes and just switching out the mufflers?
I would not advise it. If you are going to mod the exhaust do it right.
All you would need is the muffler and tip or tips depending on how you want the system to exit. You take it to the shop and they cut out your old exhaust system from the muffler back, attach your new muffler and then custom bend new pipes (that they have on hand) to your configuration that you told them.
Simple.

the cheapest way to do it and prob the best way if a shop is doing it is to buy the muffler...thats about 80 bucks, and then have the shop do the mandrel bends, about 200...and the install, about 120 bucks....500 and your out the door...plus you can have any look you want...and then whatever else on tips...
if your doing it yourself...get the kit...its not hard and takes a afternoon

You gotta figure
1. Labor at least 1-2hrs $$
2. Pipes $$
3. Muffler $$-You will already have
4. Tips $$-You will already have.
WHen you get to the shop with your parts, you should be able to bargain for $200 or less. I would aim for less with how sluggish things are,

I just amazes me that every F150 exhaust thread I've ever read involves "I want Flowmasters"...........I just don't get it, all noise, no power gain.
The only tips you can get that cheap are the cheap chrome Oreillys tips. All the stainless ones are a bit more. Closer to $50-70 a piece.

There are peformance gains it has been proven, but there are much better for perofrmance. It all comes down to people makin their trucks the way that they want.
I went cheap and easy cause it is temporary. When my warranty is done I will definately be switching up to a better brand and true duals.

There are no performance gains to just sticking a flowmaster on. They outflow a stock muffler by ~50-100cfm at WOT. Their internal design has horrific flow characteristics.
Its just the truth. They make noise, not power.
