Default '05 starting issues

Hi all, My brogher-in-law is having some trouble with his '05 King Ranch. After sitting in the garage all night, he has a hard time starting it the next morning. It will turn over but seems to be lacking of fuel or something. After 2-3 attempts, it will fire up and give him no issues for the rest of the day provided it doesn't sit more than a hour or so. The next morning, same thing. While running, the truck seems to run fine with no misses or anything. Truck has plenty of power on take off and passing also.

He replaced the filter and that didn't change anything. This weekend the Dealer told him after keeping it a day, that he needed to replace the PCM and the Cats were clogged up. Mean while they were trying to sell him a '12 that was on the lot for demo.

The truck isn't throwing any codes or anything. Wouldn't the truck show some kind of code if the cats were clogged and the PCM was bad????...would it even fire up and run period???

Thanks.....ne suggestions appreciated..

PS. he is taking it for a second opinion, just in case the dealer was giving him the run around trying to sell a truck...
