Default '05 Lariat 2WD New Rotors?

I have a '05 Lariat 2WD that I need to change the front rotors and pads on. I have the FSM and the Pic 1 shows the exploded view top left shows rotor with no hub spindle nut. While the bottom one does. I the next pic the text of the removal of the 4x2 rotor describes remove the spindle nut retainer and the nut.

I am not sure what is there on the 4x2. There doesn't seem to be a need for the spindle nut on the 4x2. If in fact ALL '05 F150's have the spindle nut then for the Rotor replacement I am thinking I need a new bearing, new nut, cotter pin. When doing this job. Any help will be appreciated.

TIA Douglas

One's 4WD and the other is 2WD... 4WD dont use a spindle nut...rotor comes right off after you remove the caliper. 2WD rotors come with a new sealed bearing.

Ok after calling around I think I understand it all now. From Rockauto.com. The Centric mfg has several options. They have the Hub 124.65902 which is the 6 lug RWD $72. The spindle nut is 124.65901 $11. Once this is on then you can change rotors without having to pull the hub off.

I see they have 3 kits that include hub, rotor, nut. Drilled and or Slotted about $155 for either. The basic kit is $125. I am probably going to get the Drilled and Slotted kit. Now its on to which pads to get.

EBC were mentioned to me by a co-worker something like green stuff? Though I keep hearing ceramic pads are the way to go as I am tired of break dust on my wheels.

So sound off as to what pads you would recommend..

Thanks Douglas

I too have an 05 2wd I did all rotors and pads a few months ago. It's an easy job
Parts:
-Rotors of your choice
-Pads of your choice

Tools:
-18 mm for caliper bracket
-10 or 13 mm for caliper itself
-36 mm deep socket
-needle nose pliers
-rubber mallet

Steps:
-Remove wheel
-Remove caliper (10/13 mm)
-Remove caliper bracket (18 mm)
-Remove cap and pin over spindle (needle nose)
-Remove spindle (36 mm)
-Rotor should come right off (if not, give it a whack)
Reverse order to reassemble

Don't forge to torque the spindle nut properly, otherwise you'll be doing the job again in short order.

Little advice invest in a breaker bar. And if you plan on keeping your truck through another brake job or 2 get the Centric brakes conversion kit. It is a 2wd standalone bearing that will allow you to just change the disc. The bearings last longer than the discs in most cases.

Thanks for all the replies! I am currently locating the 3/4 inch torque wrench for the spindle nut. I also read that our trucks are too heavy for ceramics to be used as pads. Also has anyone used the EBC greenstuff pads?

Yea I forgot those two things in my list, definitely need a torque wrench. I got mine at Lowes for $80, it goes up to 200 ft/lb and I used a metal rod behind the garage as a breaker bar, super long made turning the spindle feel like cutting butter haha
