Default 05 FX4 Brake sticking

Good day fine sirs.....
I just proudly purchased an 05 FX4 supercab a couple weeks ago. Today out of nowhere, it seemed to be dragging against resistance. It need a lot of gas it seemed like and would not coast well at all. I drove a bunch today, probably about 120 miles. I hopped out and I smelled hot brake smell real bad, and in the dark I could see the passenger side rotor glowing red in the dark.....WTF!
It looks like the pad is worn down a lot, but it gave no indication of it. No grinding, no indicator pin in the pad that I could hear. Anyone every hear of this? What should I do?

Thanks folks

Probably a bad caliper.

if the rotor was glowing it's definitely a locked up caliper... don't drive it anymore

replace the caliper, replace front brakes and mine as well do both rotors. dont forget to bleed the system

My '05 did the same thing. Seized caliper...couldn't get a C-clamp to even push it back in. Replaced caliper and good as new.

I'd also suggest you change the rubber hose as well. Often times they fail internally and can sometimes cause the caliper to stick.

Second the post above. The hoses break down internally - may look fine outside.
Sometimes do not allow the brake fluid to flow back when brake is released.
Replace the hose also.

If the rotor was red hot, I'd suggest replacing that and maybe even wheel bearings. The caliper goes without saying.

I replaced the caliper today....seems to have done the trick. No more brake smell, doesn't seem to be dragging at all. I didn't replace the rotor, since there's no vibration or pulling when braking. I bought pads too but didn't replace them because the existing ones still had a decent amount of life left. Thanks for the tips
