Default 05 F150 AC Issues

Hello all,

I am new to the ford world as well as this forum. I appologize if my question has been already answered.

Year: 2005
Model: F150 XLT

Problem: Here in NC we have a lot of humidity. When i first turn on the truck in the mornings I can hear what sounds to be a scratching noise coming from behind the passenger airbag. Once the vehicle is started it does not make the same noise again regardless of where i set the vents. The main problem is when i have the AC on, even with the vent set on either max, face only, or face/feet only, there is air that comes out of the defrost vents at the middle of the dash. This in turn creates condensation on the outside of the windshield. Does anyone have any pointers on what to look for?

Thanks in advance,

Dallas

It sounds like the vent selector motor is sticking, or something like that. You'll probably have to take all that crap apart to see what's going on. Maybe you'll get lucky and there's something stuck down there.

My wife's 2010 expedition did the same thing, took it to the dealership and they said it was an actuator somewhere behind the center dash behind the ac controls. Took them less than an hour to change out. Good luck, let us know how it goes.
