Maybe a bad injector...dripping...start with #6 when you had the DTC for the COP
#12
Unpluged #6 injector to disable it, truck still did the same thing. Will take of valve covers and front timing cover to see if the timing is off and what shape the chain/guides are, will keep you guys updated on what the outcome is.
Thanks

I'm starting to suspect your ICV (idle control valve) is shut closed. Check the electrical connection.
PS. That could be true if you if you hold down the throttle and the car runs, if the car died even with the throttle down then you can scrap my theory.
One other thing could be your culprit is your MAF is dead.

Truck does same thing with no throttle and throttle held down no difference. I will check maf from the running truck.
Thanks

Hey
Yes it was the left side cam phaser. The pin broke and the phaser moved a little. It didnt cause any damage to pistons but moved enough to throw off the timing. I changed out both phasers, timing chains, guides, and tensioners. Started and ran like a champ afterwards. Its about a day job to do it. The pin I am referring to is the pin on the back of the phaser that fits in the slot on the cam shaft. Only way to check is to remove phaser and visually inspect.

did your truck do anything before you had the problems to prompt this? I'm having trouble with mine and trying to figure out what is going on and I'm not really mechanically minded. I was driving mine down the road, it threw up a trans fault, kicked me out of overdrive, and wouldn't give me any throttle response. few seconds later it had a check engine light. It idled hard when i pulled over and shook the truck like it was misfiring... ever since then i havent been able to get it started. It tries to crank but wont ever start. i didnt know if my truck was doin anything similar to yours.

No start and puzzled
I have a 2004 f150 with a 5.4 3valve
it will crank but will not start I removed 3 plugs and 4 coil's on the driver side and it wants to try and fire up I put into plugs into coils on the one side and it goes back to cranking and backfires flame shoot out through the throttlebody and the spark plug hole what causes that

Did ya solve ur problem
When you were cranking it before finding out it was the cam phaser, did the cranking sound weird like it was light on compression and almost backfiring through the intake like a bubbling noise? Mine is leading like it is the same issue symptom wise but I'm trying to confirm it before digging in too far and it just be a blown motor it does have compression however.
