Replace the plugs/springs and boots and clear the codes.. you may need a set of coils being that you over 200K miles.. not sure when was the last tune-up done. Reset the DTC's and go from there.

Default Fixed

Replaced all 8 coils. Cleared codes. Drove truck 20 miles and it ran fine with no codes. I think we got it.

Thanks for the help!

And to think that mechanic suggested replacing the motor since it has 210,000 miles.

Lets introduce him to this Forum!

And keep us posted on how many more good serviceable miles you get out of it.

Cheers!

It's my son's truck and he is heading to medical school next year so he needs the truck to last a while longer.

Hey that's great news for those of us at 200k miles and counting who have either just done the timing job or are contemplating it. Thanks for coming back with a long term update!
Did you replace all the rockers and lash adjusters as well? Or just the chains and guides, tensioners, phasers and oil pump?
