05 5.4 3v ticking noise, power loss engine goe in to safe mode and no check engine???
Hello everyone I have a 2005 F-150 screw King Ranch 5.4 3v 105000 miles. I noticed a tapping coming from the passengers side of the engine a couple of weeks ago. my mileage has dropped to 12 for the average on the dash. when i punch it at 20 mph it has no power and is popping out the exhaust as soon as it shifts all that stops and it runs fine. this morning I pulled up to a stop sign and it went in to engine fail safe mode I pulled over turned it off for a minute and restarted it and it ran normal the rest of the way to work (2 miles) and has never throw a check engine light. I took it to one mechanic last week and he said it was my cam phasers and i needed to put a motorcraft oil filter on and see if that helped so I did that and it seems to be getting worse. Any suggestions on what I should do I read a lot of people changing cam phasers and not helping the problem. I would appreciate any help yoouu can give me

That certainly doesn't sound like a phaser issue. I think it's a coil/plug issue, maybe an injector (combo of these?). Phasers won't do that, and it would have thrown a code. Get a second opinion from a different mechanic, the "instant solution" at some money hungry shops is to insist it's bad phasers, a $2000 job.
Might I also stress the importance in using commas ie:
"Let's eat, Grandpa"

"Lets eat Grandpa"

today it started idling rough and threw several code. Cam position and over all timing restarted, multiple cylinder misfire , cylinder 3 misfire. its wont even run good enough to drive now

2006 ford f150 5.4
hi, my 2006 ford has a knocking in my motor i hear it most of the time when she is ilding what can this be? she only has 131 xxxkms and she is a 5.4 liter the truck runs good but has more power and other times. every now and again i will have to make 2 or 3 attemps to start her but no code comes up in my dash it just says check gages when she failes to start.
