Cleaner air for us and the future population is not a "stupid government requirement".
That aside, before I would toss anymore parts at the problem such as the cats being faulty, I'd have them tested. You have already spent way too much chasing this problem, so continuing to replace parts becomes foolish at best. Heed the advice that others have provided and have the exhaust tested for restriction prior to replacing the cats, or any other part.

Also, another thing that smoothed my idle out was I put 2 of the larger bottles of techron in the tank filled with 93 octane. Ran it down to 1/4 tank, filled it back up again and added another bottle. It actually made a big difference. I did that after changing my plugs, fuel filter, cleaning MAF and TB because those alone didn't quite do it.

Good advice on the Techron. I buy Shell gas, and all three of their grades have Techron in it already.

I always have used Shell Gas. I will take you guys advice and have the cats checked. Will post results! Like I said I have had the plugs changed, filters, and had a diagnostic check and the local Ford dealer could not find the problem.

Relax Bucko, I took it to an exhaust business, they hooked it up to their machine and said the cats are fine. They also said it probably was an intake leak and suggested a repair shop. They said no charge but I gave them a ten anyway.
I'll let you guys know what they find.
