My truck will sometimes shift a gear or two right away when i take off from a start and if I go to stop right away, just before i get to a complete stop the truck engine will shake and then down shift into first. Its like it has a hard time downshifting. This problem doesn't happen all the time. Just every once and a while.

are the rpms really low when it down shifts? that might be the engine shaking being its rpms are way low. There are a few shift issues that are fixed by a reprogram for the 04-08 f150. I had a shift issue and took it to ford and it was covered under recall for free.

Yes! my rpms are way down and when it finally downshifts they jump back up to normal idling rmps. My pickup also shift up too fast when start from a dead stop as well. So, its definitely a shift problem. Do you suggest going to a ford dealer and talking to them about the recall?
