04 lariat 4x4 hard steering 65k miles
my super crew 4x4 steers real hard , usually when u make a turn ,u can let the wheel kinda slide thru your hand and finish the turn , this beauty make me finish the turn manually. it doesnt steer smooth like butter , its hard to turn . smooth , hard to turn , smooth etc- all the way from lock to lock. anybody run into this ???? PLEASE help, its very annoying ,espeially with my utility trailer backing up-

I had a Z71 that the power steering pump was acting up like that. It finally got real bad where you had to rev the motor to get the wheel to turn. I had to put a new pump on around $285 or so.

usually when the steering feels like that ( easy,hard,easy,hard ) while turning its the u- joints in the steering shaft. I would pull it off where it goes into the rack and check the joints and see if one is stiff.. Be careful if you leave the key in the on position that the wheel doesnt spin because you can take out the clockspring in the column
