Default 04 FX4 and aftermarket rim backspacing

Ok, first off let me say I did read the sticky on wheel and tire fitment but I am soo confused as to the backspacing thing etc... here's the deal for all you backspace rim and tire guru's. I have a 2004 FX4 with the stock 18" wheels. I want a set of Moto Metal 958 wheels which are 18x9. The specs are: Offset: -12 and Backspacing 5.47". I do not have a leveling kit and I don't want one to tell you honestly, I'm not planning on doing much off roading. I also don't want these buggers to rub either. Can I run these with a set of 33" tires without a rubbing issue? If I can, what is the widest tire I can run to avoid rubbing? Thanks again for all your help.

I just put a set of moto metal 951 18x9, Backspace 6.18, offset +30mm on my 09 xlt. I know there are some differences between the trucks but not that much, the backspace your choosing would make the tires stick out like 2.75" on my truck so i went with the size I listed and they still stick out more than 2". I have a set of Nitto Terra Grappler 33x13R18 (325/60R18) and they do not rub at all. There is however only about 1" clearance to my upper control arm and to the inner wheel well. so 33's should fit but you need a rim with a higher backspace. The oem rims are 18x7.5 with a 5.5" backspace

Here's the math for my truck you can do the numbers on yours

oem rim 18x7.5 new rim 18x9
9-7.5=1.5 (wider)

oem backspace 5.5 new backspace 6.18
6.18-5.5 = .68

1.5+.68=2.18" (sicks out)

If my formula is wrong I'm sure someone here will let me/you know however it works out exact for my fitment.

Ok, so basically what you're saying is that these wheels with a 33" tire will rub correct? What if I were to bite the bullet so to speak and install the levelling kit, would I be ok then?

Not sure if they would rub but that backspce will make them stick out a few inches. Look at Atoms truck, his wheels stick out like 5 inches and I think he has a really small backspace, like 4.5 or 5". The higher the backspace the more the rim will be tucked in the wheel well. The lower the backspace the further out of the wheel well. If you call http://www.rimzoneonline.com they can help a lot, ask for mike he was a great help to me.

Ok I'll definitely call him, but if the OEM rims have a 5.5" backspace and these wheels have a 5.47" backspace, shouldn't that be pretty darn close to stock, or does the offset screw that up?
