04 FX4 5.4 3V with 08 engine HELP!!
Hi all, been lurking this site for quite awhile and its great. Unfortunately now im at a standstill with a project and am in need of assistance.
I have a complete 08 f150 with a 5.4 3V engine that has been damaged in an accident and written off. I recently purchased a 04 fx4 with the same engine and have swapped the entire engine,tranny, transfer case as a unit along with engine and trans. wiring harness into it. It after final assembly it cranks strong but will not fire. Im getting fuel to the rail, suspect no spark but have been reluctant to pull a plug yet. I first suspected the PATS system, but verrified the security light comes on for a few seconds then off. I tried the PCM from the 08, along with the PATS transceiver, key, ignition and cluster, with this the PATS light goes off after a few seconds as it should, but the engine wont even crank over, all lights on dash are working. Swapped the 04 PCM, transeiver, cluster back in. Not sure what to check. The only problem with using the 08 harness that i am aware of is the oil temp switch on the pan, but imagine it should start without it. Any help is much appreciated. The 08 ran fine after the accident BTW.

no power getting to plug coil. Im unsure which route to stick with and diagnose, either swap the 08 PCM, ignition, pats into the 05 and diagnose no crank, or keep the stock components in and diagnose no spark.
