Default 04 f150 motor question

Hi all I have been a ford man all my life and continue to support the brand. My 04 f150 recently started ticking and got it checked out and the Cam phazers are shot and scored. Each head is $3500 or new motor is $7500.

Question can I put an 06 motor in this truck ? Is it a hard swap?

Has anyone done this?

I really don't want to put another 04 motor in and have the same issue a few years from now

You don't really need a new motor or new head. You can replace just the phaser. As long as your truck still runs smooth other than the tick it is ok. Most people on here just choose to ignore the tick. Not really gonna hurt anything

2004 Supercrew, noisy cam phasers, 210,000 miles. Still going strong.
