Yea. I had a stupid moment. Didn't think a out that. So, possible oil pump, but would that knock the phasers out? I don't wanna tear it all apart and not do then, to redo it a week later

It may be broken vanes in the phaser and the spring it winding up then has enough pressure to over come the valve train force. Causing it too slap.

All I'm saying it that when you see the oil pressure bounce like that I have always seen people on here replace the pump. Low oil pressure can cause premature phaser issues

Well, that makes sense. Ive read reviews and people say the Dorman phasers are junk, possibly, but doesn't seem likely to me there this bad. Seems to me I have a pressure issue, I'm gunna see if the parts store will warranty them, and get a pump. I read somewhere about a bolt near the solenoid to remove and check for blockage, is there any truth to this? I'm tired of tearing this truck apart so I wanna do whatever I can to fix it one last time

Well I personally don't know about a bolt to remove but you can find good diagrams by googling the vct oil passage ways, maybe remove the tensioners and blow compressed air through the passages with the components removed

Sounds Like what I need to do. AutoZone has a melling pump, or should I go for a higher quality?

Melling is a good pump. Make sure it has the steel backing plate

Ok. I'll look into it. I found a melling high performance on eBay for 110 free expedited shipping, my phasers will be in tomorrow. So ill check on the pump, and see what happens. Should I run seafoam through solenoid holes as a precautionary measure?

Sorry I haven't replied had a bunch of family an health issues. I redid all the phasers, chains, oil pump, filled it with 5-20 ford oil an filter. Drove it about 3200 miles, and it started knocking again. Only seems to do it after hot, hard to get it there lately since we've been under 0 most days but it's started knocking 2 times now. Also has a rattle at startup, sound like when you change the oil and forst few seconds until it builds pressure, but it does it everytime it sits overnight. Ad for the knock it did it Once before I changed the oil, then I went to a 0-40 Mobil 1 to try an fix start up noise, and someone recommended -40 for the knock. It knocked again the other day after I had changed it and drove it pretty hard, so I'm basically lost on what to do with it, aside from get rid of it. I've done the timing and phasers 2 times, oil pump once, an been running ford 5-20 til this last oil change.

just had my phasers, chains, tensioners, vct solenoids changed 4times. this last time changed oil pump (melling highpressure from o'reily's) and lifters and went with the ratcheted tensioners this time too. It runs good but when coming to a stop from the interstate it has I rough idle so I cleaned tb, mf put new foam on air filter tray still has rough idle. I don't know what to do now it's getting discouraging
