Default 04 f150 3v repeated po112

Hey new here, I recently bought a 04 f150, had cam timing codes when bought, I pulled the codes and did the diag. It ran rough at idle, and got worse as it warmed up, excessive rattle and start up noise.I checked oil psi at idle, around 40psi. I pulled the timing covers to find a broken timing chain guide and leaking tensioners. I replaced both phasers, both chains all guides and both tensioners. I made sure all marks lined up, put back together ran great. I recently went on a longer trip at highway speed, slowed down and the truck began to run rough again, check engine light back on. If I go full throttle and hold it there, it clears up and runs fine again.I just pulled the codes today and it has a po112 timing over ret. Bank 1 p0021 timing over advanced bank 2 po340 cam sensor bank 1 po345 cam sensor bank 2. Truck has new motorcraft 5-20 synthetic oil an motorcraft filter, new champion plugs, all new timing components and 1 new cam solenoid on bank 1. Any suggestions as to what to check, or how to diag? Thanks to all who reply

Did you try to unplug the VCT solenoids? I know you said you had a new one but replacing both of those with updated ones is fairly cheap....just a thought

Hey, sorry about your issues.
I have had the same luck.
First try to unplug the VCT solenoids and cam position sensors. Report back.

If no change when then what
I would do is find a buddy or somebody to hook up a scan tool, a good scan tool, not a code reader. I used a OTC genesis. I then looked at my camshaft positions, saw that one bank was not changing positions as the other bank was. It turned up being a broken phaser, a new phaser with only 3k on them.

If you end up finding this out, you can try thicker oil to bandaid the issue, this worked for about 1 week for me.

What kind of phasers did you use?

Good luck

What is the purpose of unplugging the VCTs ?the reason I'm asking is because I have a ticking sound and I know it's my passenger VCT.

Did you use Dorman phasers? They haven't had the best reviews...

mine failed in 3000 miles, luckily they got ahold of me and reimbursed me infull. So if it turns out to be the phasers I can get you the contact info on the dorman rep, they stood behind there product which is impressive in today's time.

elimates the VCT and allows the phasers to operate at its normal state via spring pressure.
