There has to be a loss somewhere or they wouldn't have gone through the expense of developing the system in the first place. Question is where and how the loss occurs. All there torque in this engine happens in the low rpm range so the loss has to be there.

From what I was told by them, 3-5hp is about all ya lose power wise. Fuel mileage I'm not sure. The system was designed to adjust for power and mileage as needed, the way I understand the lockouts they are fixed at full power basically.all I can say is what I was told, I'm considering doing it to mine. So ya may lose some mileage, we drive 4x4 trucks I'm not hugely concerned with 1 or 2 mpg or I'd drive a prius. Haha.

Dorman FPDM is one that seems to do the job too

So, here's my thoughts. My truck has cam phaser noise and throwing codes for both converters. My truck has the 4 cat set up, universal weld in cats are like a 150 a piece. I'm thinking, going with the livernois locker kit an, long tube header/hi flow cat set up (maximizer exhaust ebay set up for $500) any suggestions or opinions?

Sounds like a good plan to me. Although the long tube headers might actually cause you to lose some more low end power. I've got stock manifolds and cats and just converted to true dual exhaust. I'm seeing a loss in some low end power after the change.

A guy I work with said about the low end loss, but everything I'm reading says go with long tube for Mid to high gains, and no affect or small gain on low end. So I'm kinda in between on them. I know the cats are expensive, that's kinda why I leaned toward that whole set up.

The loss is minimal. Someone not obsessed with their vehicle likely wouldn't notice. If the power loss is annoying you can get custom tunes and a tuner for $500 that should help it. I'm planning on going that route over the summer. Id do my exhaust again in a heartbeat. Id go for long tubes and high flow cats. Eventually I'll be putting them on mine.

Yea, the livernois noise kit comes with a tuner, for extra can get a custom one an tunes wrote for it so that's my plan.

Right now I have all factory exhaust except a series 40 muffler. I'll probably run that this year then next have the pipes made to run a true dual set up. Limited budget always sucks for this kind of stuff

Just to touch on the original topic, I would rebuild the timing system using motorcraft, even if you plan on locking the phasers out. This time around, I would take the vct valve body off and clean the oil passages out. If those get restricted, you'll have oil flow issues even with good pressure.
