To change out the plugs and COP boots only would not be that expensive, under $100 for the parts if you shop around, that is assuming you do it yourself and can loan/borrow the plug removal tool for when you break them.

Good news!! I replaced the VCT solenoids and Camshaft timing sensors and the ticking, rough idle and bucking is completely gone. It did cost about $350.00 but it was well worth it!!

bucking
for me 05 FX4, bucking seems to only happen in overdrive and at the said 45-50 mph mark.
plugs have been replaced, MAF has been replaced, throttle body has been replaced, coils have been replaced, injector service has been performed, catalytic converters have both been replaced ...next was going to be VCT and/or cam phasers ..i think will try the fuel filter..
oh did i mention loss of power, lack of throttle response, and sometimes failure to downshift when pedal hits the floor ??
any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.
If i didn't love the truck i wouldn't keep pouring money into it.
Thank You Everyone

I did the plug change after watching several "how to change plugs on 5.4 3V engine" videos from our forum. Two plugs broke but I had the Lisle extractor tool (about $60 at RockAuto.com). Plan to have a day to work on it and follow the advice in the forum. Bet that will cure the problem. Good luck.
