" After cleaning the old LCD screen pins it worked just fine too."

What do you mean by "cleaning" them? Did you wipe them off with something before putting the grease on the tips?

well, I took it apart exactly as you said... come to find out, the damn LCD screen had only had 1 of the 6 pins inserted... I know it didn't "work" loose, so it must have been assembled at the factory in a crappy fashion, or someone else tried to fix it at one point and didn't know what they were doing.

thank you for the help though. I can finally read my miles. ;D but one bad thing is, all my gauge pins are set back to normal except my speedometer pin... it keeps getting stuck on 0. With that i'll probably have to set the pin while cruising down the highway going 50-60 mph using the GPS speedo on my droid, lol.

You know I thought it would be pretty easy for these pins to come out of their holders. I guess theirs some flexing that happens with the boards. Anyway glad you got it fixed

I'm about to try this fix on my 04 F150 XLT.
my problem started about 2 months ago when I had to get my truck jump started 3 times in one week with the original battery going bad.
my odometer went out after the 1st jump-start, I finally replaced the battery with a new one but the problem persisted, I can reset it by removing the battery ground for 5 minutes, but after the 1st start / stop cycle it goes blank again.
Also all my gauges light up and my tack, speedometer quit working periodically while driving but the truck doesn't sputter or anything and the glitches only last for a few seconds. I tried to see if any codes were being displayed but the OBD II wouldn't connect to the computer, it worked fine on my wife's Fusion as I checked to see if the problem was in the devise or if it was my truck. Anyway I hope it fixes the problems when I'm done.

Thanks for the in-depth info. We'll see how it goes...

Well I did the repairs like the O P said and so far so good. I cleaned all connections with an electrical spray cleaner I picked up at the local parts store, also put the grease on all connectors. Only problem I had was the needles for the gauges were off after reassemble, but I minimized the fix by not putting on the clear cover before checking the gauges and tack, speedometer etc. were working properly. I checked it by starting and cutting truck off about 10 times, before the fix it would have went blank after the 1st start stop cycle. I also fixed my driver-side power window switch's per another forum which was basically the same steps as the odometer fix, cleaning and grease etc.

I checked my speed with a GPS navigator which helped a lot.

I hope I fixed the gauge problem with the odometer fix, seems they are related since they started at the same time. time will tell, good luck with yours.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear yours is working for you. My cluster is on its way back to me from the shop that bench tested it. Should get it tomorrow. After a little more troubleshooting it may be time to just take it to the dealer . . .

...I actually replaced my LCD screen with the one I purchased and it worked, so I wanted to see if my old one still worked. After cleaning the old LCD screen pins it worked just fine too. And both screens displayed the proper mileage of the original cluster...
Two questions:
#1
Are you saying that both different clusters displayed the correct mileage of the vehicle? Or both lcd screens in the same cluster?

#2
My lcd screen works it displays the mileage, compass, and temp just fine. However at night I cannot see or read it, there is no light behind it.
Is my problem just a bulb behind the lcd screen or is it the lcd screen itself?
