Default 04-08 factory nav replacement

hey guys, soooooo I have done some searching and I was wondering if anyone has successfully upgraded their factory nav unit for 04-08 models(preferably 08' mark lt). I hate antiquated nav units. I see great plug and play units for the basic radios but they don't work supposedly with factory navigation unit trucks. just wondering if anyone has done it and what is needed (plugs mods etc)

just fyi to all. I bought an aftermarket eonon head unit with nav and it works perfect. no issues but a thump from the sub when it first turns on. would like to see that disappear but I can live with it.

Sounds like you need a resistor added to your remote cable for the amp. There are a bunch of youtube videos on taking the pop out of the amp when turning the stereo on. Good luck.

The reason you're getting that noise it's because the sub only requires 5V to turn it on and the head unit is pushing out 12V.

So your solution is to get one of these and wire it inline with your HU and Sub 12V feed (remote on):

Metra Axxess 12V to 5V Step Down Converter AFDI-5V

^that's what the resistor I mentioned does, drops it down from 12v to about 5v to eliminate the pop. Your post simplifies it though, good job, next time I have to get rid of a pop, I will look for one of these.

Everything worked great other than the slight pop from sub. Didn't come with antenna adapter and I had to use a few washer to get it to sit out more flush but perfect otherwise.

As mentioned by the qualified folks above, you're speaker pop/thud can be addressed by lowering the voltage of your remote wire. I wanted to add this can also be referred to as a "Signal wire"

going to bring this back from the dead. not sure if the OP is still on here since this is so old. but when you did your swap, was it a simple plug and play? any modifications that needed to be done in order for the aftermarket unit to work?
