Default 04-08 Door Ajar Light Mod

Okay, so I got to thinking the other day when I was looking at my dad's new truck. He picked up a 2012 Platinum not too long ago- the thing is gorgeous. Anyway, I kinda like how the 09-up trucks fire up the parking lights, taillights, dome lights and cargo lights all for a while when you open up a door. Does anyone know of any mod/control box retrofit for the 04-08's? I think this might bring a bit of style and techno-advancy-cool-looking to them.

My 07 does this. I even added puddle lights to the mix.

That's cool, is this something they started in 06 or something then? And when you open a door, your parking lights and taillights come on too?

If I hit the unlock button on my key fob, all the lights come on. If I just pull the handle, I get the domes, cargo, and my puddle lights.

Okay, gotcha. I get the same with mine, as long as it's dark enough outside. What I'm talking about is different, and it might only be available on 09+ (unfortunately) but I'm hoping there is a way I could make it happen.

This would be a ez modd. All you got to do is hook up a relay to trigger when the dome light is on. Then find the wire that feeds the parking lights at the headlight switch and then find the parking light wire that goes to the parking lights from the headlight switch and splice into them and hook to the relay common and normally open terminals. Then any time your dome lights were on your parking lights would to.

That's what I was kinda thinking, except I was just going to go with a straight power instead of relay trigger. Which is the reason why I was hoping there might be a quick controller that can be wired to the fuse box or something...probably not.

That's weird my 04 does this. I also added puddle light to the mix as well. My 04 is a Lariat though maybe that has something to do with it.

You mean something like this: (I disabled mine since I converted over to HIDs)

Enabling/Disabling the perimeter lighting feature
Your vehicle comes with the perimeter lighting feature enabled. All vehicle doors must be closed before beginning the procedure. You must complete Steps 1-5 withing 30 seconds, or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must wait a minimum of 30 seconds to begin again.

1. Turn the ignition to the ON position, then press the unlock control three times.
2. Turn the ignition to the OFF/LOCK position, then press the unlock control three times.
3. Turn the ignition to the ON position; the horn will chirp to indicate the driver configuration mode has been activated.
4. Within five seconds, press the unlock control two times.

Note: One horn chirp should be heard, indicating the system has been disabled. Conversely, a horn chirp followed by a honk will indicate the system is enabled. Pressing the power door unlock control two times again will turn the feature ON if it was previously OFF, or OFF if it was previously ON. Every two consecutive presses of the unlock control after successfully entering the configuration mode will change the enable/disable condition of the feature.

5. Turn the ignition to the OFF/LOCK position to exit programming.

Note: After exiting the driver configuration mode, the horn will chirp once to indicate a feature has been activated/deactivated.

We'll mine is a Lariat too, but I think we are talking about two different things.
