Default 04-08 dome / cargo light issue

On my 06 I am having a problem that is driving me nuts, and also killing my battery softly. The dome/cargo lights will come on randomly. If my car is parked, I might look out my window and see my cargo/dome lights on. When I'm driving, if I scroll the dimmer switch all the way down it usually eliminates the lights from coming on, but if I have my dimmer switch set at anything above the lowest setting, my cargo/dome lights will come out in a matter of minutes or seconds. if i bang the dash right near the headlight switch it usually works to get it to turn off. My car cannot sit for more then a day without the battery dying because of this issue.

I know its not the door jam switch as my door ajar indictor doesn't come on and i have hit them with wd 40 already. i also recently replaced the headlight/dimmer switch so i know that is not the culprit.

i have seen this issue brought up before it seems to be a fairly common problem but there doesn't seem to be any kind of consensus as to what is causing it.

It is going to be your headlight switch or the instrument cluster...
The connector on the top left of the instrument cluster - pins 11 and 12 are for the lights.
Pins 19 and 23 are the inputs from the door switches.

So what is the fix? I have my instrument cluster off and there are no obvious faults

do you know what color the 4 wires are? i would like to just cut them and disable the dome/cargo light feature.

According to my wiring schematic, a 2006 F150 interior dome and cargo light wire is black with a light blue stripe at the top left of the instrument cluster.
