04-07 3v 5.4l. How often are you changing plugs after the 1st time?
I posted a thread a week or so ago about which non Motorcraft plugs to use on a friends 06 5.4' supercab. he initially did not want to use Motorcraft after reading how much of a PITA they were gonna be to remove this time.
Original thread:

Anyways, fast forward to now. After talking to a couple of mechanics, he's finally decided to use the Motorcraft plugs and use the anti seize grease on them.
So, new question. How often are you guys planning to change the plugs again after the 1st PITA change? Are you planning to go 100K again? (assuming you have no plug related issues in that time) Or are you planning to changed them in shorter intervals?
He plans to keep the truck for a long time. The truck he traded in on this one had 280K miles on it. Would it be easier for him to change them every 50K or 60K? Or will he be good to go out to 100K as long as he uses the anti seize?

I would check or change them every 30-50K. That is probably every 3-4 years depending if you drive the average yearly amount. Once you do the updated plug design with the antiseize you will have no trouble changing them out in no time because they don't have the carbon buildup on the barrel due to the antiseize and the heavy crimp on the nut so they won't break off very easy.

I was wondering the same thing.
I broke down and ended up doing them myself after I was told that it was $80 a plug.
I ended up breaking 5. And then went with Motorcraft w/ anti seize.

I have an 08 with a build date of 05/08, so this issue isn't one I have to worry about.

Did you run seafoam or anything like that prior to changing them. He's run 2 tanks of seafoam. Hoping that may help some. Did you use the Lisle tool to get them out? How easy was it to use? Have one to use, but have never used one before.

Actually didn't flame anyone. People came into a thread and answered with a reply that at the time wasn't an option. I agreed with them, but since it's not my truck, it wasn't and isn't my call. The only people flaming were some of the others posting. Internet brings out the worst in people. They will say things they would never say to someone's face.

However as you found out many people have issues with the Champion plugs. Mine were changed just before I bought it with Champions. I got 2 years out of them before a miss developed. Went back to Motorcraft this time after speaking with a trusted indy mechanic friend who told me they stopped using the Champions due to warranty work related to misses. No more warranty issues since going back to the Motorcraft.
