01 Super Crew King Ranch 4x4 or 06 Supercab 4x4 XL
Hey, guys its me again. I'm trying to narrow down my search for a truck. Now I am stuck between two trucks. I probably should've asked this in the general discussion section to avoid bias towards the 06. I just want you guys opinions.
I know these are high mileage trucks but I really don't want a truck payment right now. I just need a truck that will last me about 2-3 years. The two trucks I have narrow down two are a 01 Super Crew King Ranch 4x4 with 240K for $3800 & a 06 Supercab 4x4 XL with 256K for $3900. Tomorrow I will have free time to go look at one of them. If all goes well I
will buy one tomorrow.
King Ranch 01 4x4 with 240k
Or 06 4x4 XL with 256K
Thanks

I have had a 2002 xlt f150 and my current one that I have now which is a 2007 fx4. Don't get me wrong, they are both good trucks but the 2001 seem like a better deal to me. It has less miles and it seems like it is taken care of a lot better. My 02 had 290k miles and it was still running strong when I sold it for 4K. Both are good trucks but judging by the picture, the 2001 seem nicer. Plus older gentlemen tend to like the king ranch edition, which means it was probably taken care of more maintenance wise. Just my 2 cents though. Good luck on the buy!

I have a 03 king ranch.. Trust me parts are IMPOSSIBLE to get. It took me 2 years to get a new overhead console because mine only had the compass and the temp display is in the A/C controls ( auto climate they didn't have that in 01 though ) and all the beige trim is discontinued and impossible to Get. The center caps for the wheels are $100 for 1 and wheels are impossible to find. So parts wise the newer one will be a lot easier to fix things on. Just my .02¢ especially with the rear console lid missing you won't find one. If you do they'll want a nut for it or want you to take the whole interior. Plus the seats are a pain to take care of you got to clean them with baby soap and hot water and condition them with special conditioner can't spill anything on them. Not even water or you'll have to clean the whole seat to get the stain out. ( just from water ) and if you live where rust is common the rear doors are impossible to find.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I end up passing on both of the trucks. The dealer never called me back on the 06 even after called them like 5 times and even left messages. I guess they were saving it for themselves.
As far as the king ranch goes when I called the dealer ahead about the truck, they claimed nothing was wrong with it. When I went and seen the 2001 king ranch in person, I wasn't expecting it to be perfectly visually because it was so cheap but the truck stalled twice on the test drive, smelled like smoke, and the heat didn't work. I knew I wasn't going to buy it as soon as the notice that the heat didn't work. They even had a black 01 4x4 supercrew on the lot as well. It was clean on the inside and the body didn't look bad. I was excited for a second, but when I tried to test drive it and it wouldn't start.
The search continues. It's just hard trying to find a decent truck that I like with only $4500 budget but I'm just going to keep being patient. All else fails, I might have to just go ahead and finance one, I hope not.

Thanks, I actually found another XL with only 203K on it but it was 3 1/2 hours away and a fleet vehicle so stayed away from it. I gotta admit though if it was closer I would have still went to look at it.

Thanks, sounds like you got a great deal on the FX4. I live in Mississippi and people price their trucks like they are Gold here. The cheapest 04 FX4 I found was for $5800. I text the guy $4500 and he didn't even text back lol. I found an 04 4x4 XL that I was suppose to buy for 4600 but couldn't get to the guy for 2 days cause of school and work and it was sold the day I was free. When this popped up, for I knew I had to hop on it even without 4x4.
