You need an exhaust because of it's sound?

Also I don't know a ton about exhaust but I have a hard time believing you got 40hp out of just an exhaust system.

And you said the exhaust gave your race cars more hp? What about the guys that pull trailers? A few extra horses and a little torque can make a world of difference

This is my truck and this is why.....

3 Reasons.
1- HP gains for towing
2- Sounds Badass from the quiet nothing of the stock muffler
3- Noticed some MPG gains with the engine breathing better (18MPG tops pre-exhaust hwy at 70mph/21-23mpg post exhaust hwy at 70mph).

Let me ask you this..Why do people put 12" lifts and 40" tires on a truck that never sees anything other than pavement?
It's irritating to others around as someone posted above. Not everyone wants to listen to your v8 as you drive by, that's one thing that people who stick on loud exhaust never consider.

^^^^ Says the 18 year old kid. It is irritating to others whether you like it or not, not everyone is as enthusiastic as you on hearing their v8's.

The sound is a byproduct of my performance gains. You don't pay my gas bill, pay my car loan or tow my trailer. Yeah I bought a V8 but if I can eek out some gains I will do it again and again. <-- Says the 30 year old

I personally like loud exhaust but like you said, some people don't. What about motorcycles, big diesel trucks like ups trucks and school buses, ricers with fart cans, etc. These are louder than most aftermarket truck exhaust systems so I'm not too worried about it. However straight piped is another story.

As well that someone putting the exhaust on their vehicle probably doesn't care what other people care..if it's their preference, vehicle, and money..
For the record, his exhaust is actually stock

LOL, I don't even own a V8. I fully acknowledge that opening up my V6 would make people puke. My dad has a Magnaflow on his 6.2L and I can tell you that unless you redneck the **** out of your exhaust, you won't annoy other people. Getting a stainless catback that's well engineered will liven up the sound at idle and offer a little more in-cabin rumble without annoying others with excessive acoustic drone. It's the morons that straight pipe and rip through neighbourhoods that make people have issues with it.
