No. The resistor is in series with the fan motor. It is actually several resistors that are switched into the motor circuit to control the fan speed.

I just bought a 14 and as a matter of priority started with little mods here and there that make the truck better. Like a lot of the $50 and under mods over in that thread, the led lighting swap out in almost all areas of the truck, and was going to go to Home Depot to do this one but I thought I'd check first and wouldn't you know it, mines already been done this exact way. That leads me to believe this previous owner must be a reader of some forum maybe even this one. I notice that mostly I have to keep the cool **** down here in ft worth but the fan speed on low to middle or I'll freeze out. On long trips I notice I need to raise the temp up even a little or point the vent up or away so mines working good with this mod.

Window tint makes a huge difference too. Have the darkest possible tint put on the back windows and as dark as legally allowable on the front doors. This helps a lot.

I insulated my line today and noticed a significant difference on a 99 degree day. Good write up. It looks like it was done at the factory.
