So after deciding that a CAI wasn't for me for my eco-boost I decided to look at other things to do. Read several threads about guys that used WIX paper filter from Amsoil to replace the stock Motorcraft air filter. Just got mine today and purchased for $17. Upon comparing the stock vs the WIX there is a huge difference in the paper fin size of the filters. Obviously I am not going to notice any power gains from just replacing the stock paper filter however it does appear that I do hear more whoosh from the turbos. Not excessive just a tad more. Wondering if this will make any difference in performance or MPG. Anyone else using A WIX filter in their eco-boost?

No it won't make a difference in mpg.

There's no such thing as a CAI for a turbo engine, that's what the intercooler is for. Good thing you didn't buy one, complete waste of money. They do sound cool though.

We only use Wix in our race cars, but they're a thinner - performance only material.

I was impressed by quality and design of the filter. Perfect fit and seal. Paper seems just as thick as OEM but the grooves/fins are deeper and wider.

Ya I know what you meant, I should have been more clear. Even though they are labelled CAI's they do not perform as one on a turbo engine. But people buy them anyways...

The wix filter is a good filter. Better than K&N, you won't have to worry about oil coating the MAF.

Yeah people were saying the noises from the waste gates on turbos, etc was annoying and loud. for a few extra HP not worth it to me for an intake. Installing my new 4" SOLO exhaust tomorrow. See if I notice any gains from that along with sound. I have a 2012 so I think I have the MAP and not the MAF. They changed that in new models. Either way I wouldn't use an oiled filter anyway. Had KN on my old silverado and rather just replace paper filters once a year.
