At wit's end with a stalling F150

I think the fuel filter is in the tank and is non-serviceable, and the FPDM looks fine- no corrosion, our winters are very mild here. No salt.
I am going to investigate the possibility of a vacuum leak in the braking system, since the stalling only occurs when coming to a stop. Unfortunately, it is intermittent, and does not always occur.
Thanks for all your help, please feel free to post ideas...one HAS to be right.

Does it start up and run fine cold? This happened to me on a Dodge. Turned out it was the coolant temp sensor. Did your truck overheat recently?
Just a thought.

More info on truck:
1. Truck has not overheated
2. Did "relearn process" after replacing TB, then drove 12 miles under varying speed/load
3. Only stalls when stopped, or coming to a stop- it sometimes idles roughly for a few seconds, then dies. It starts up after, but usually requires some throttle , and then a bit of throttle to keep it running.
4. If it were a carbureted truck, I'd say it had some blocked passages in the carb, and was running lean.
5. It is intermittent.
6. Just changed plugs ( not for stalling issue, just for regular maintenance) - all were a nice tan color, although gaps were not consistent. I used new SP-509 Motorcraft in it.
Thanks a LOT for your help!

Hi.
You can actually unplug those VCT solenoids and the truck will still run fine.
Don't think it's cam timing - think it's fuel.
Recently, on another forum a feller was having similar issues under delta V conditions. Turns out the cracked FPDM was moving/flexing and inducing intermittent fuel pressure fluctuations.
Just a SWAG... lol

Fair enough, and a simple test to confirm or rule them out.
OP - unplug both VCT solenoids and see if you still have the symptoms.
good luck

Thanks for all the responses!! I have narrowed it down, it seems as if it might be TWO distinct problems, most likely the VCT solenoids, AND an evap purge valve. It does not want to start after filling it up, which points to an evap purge valve, but that would not affect the running any other time. I do get a bit of "ticking" noise, which points to the VCT solenoids, which, upon presenting the stalling issue again, I will try disconnecting, to see if it changes the performance. I see there is a TSB on the solenoids, which may make it easier to get the dealer to change them. I have yet to find a number on the purge valve, but will look it up later today, to see if I can get one easily.
I appreciate all your great ideas!
Will let you know what i find.

Starting to get a bit desperate here:
Truck: 2009 F150, 4.6 L, 3v, 47k miles, well maintained, driven very easily, combined hi-way and town driving.
Issue: stalls at stop lights, or anywhere I come to a stop, or let off the throttle. SOMETIMES, I can "catch " it before it dies. It is intermittent, does not do it all the time, and runs just fine sometime. No CEL.
Done so far: changed both upstream oxy sensors, the intake manifold runner control, and the Throttle body. (note: the O2 sensors and the IMRC were covered under warranty, the TB was NOT.)
The truck has been in the shop now 3 times, with no improvement in the stalling issue. So far, I have 3-400$ out of pocket, as well as three lost work days (another 1000$ or so). I am getting a bit disgusted, and need some advice! Anyone had same issue and had it fixed?
The dealer seems to want to replace parts until they hit it by accident, but that's getting pricey, especially on a truck which is SUPPOSED to have a 5 yr/60k mile warranty!
Any ideas? Thanks!

In other words, rev engine, squirt (engine tries to die as you do this), stop squirting before engine dies, rev engine and clean out carb cleaner, and repeat with one or two cans of carb cleaner or until the engine runs way better whichever happens first.
BTW, not likely your fuel filter because at idle your vehicle requires less fuel, not more. At any-rate, your fuel filter is not were I would start if you brought your truck into my old shop.
