Default Winter Tires

I know it's a little bit early for winter tires , but I'd like some recommendations on a decent winter tire. Im going to be purchasing 4 tires and steel rims, for my 09 Screw 4x4. Im not sure if I should stay with 18" tires or go to 17 ". I live in Northern Ontario Canada, and we can get a lot of snow up here at times.
I've been looking at the folowing tires. I have concidered studded tires but am not sure if it's really needed.

Bridgestone Blizak DM-V1 275/65/18
Bridgestone Blizak DM-Z3 255/70/17
Michiline Lattitude x-Ice 255/70/17
Pirelli Scorpion Ice + Snow 265/60/18

Thanks

I've been thinking about winters myself. This is what I found from tirerack myself. I am inclined to go with the Blizak's myself.

If the package for the 17" rims is cheaper then that is what I will do as the outside diameter of the tire does not change much.

Right now my question is whether I can get the rims at a decent price. Tirerack does not have steel rims. Their prices on the alloy ones aren't terrible but once you add shipping to Canada to the mix + the tps monitor sensors, it adds up pretty quick.

Im leaning towards the 17" also I can get steel rims from Kaltire @ around $100.00 each. Concerning the TPM system. Im not sure waht will happen if I dont put the modules in the tires, maybe the indicator light will come on, and stay on, not a big deal, for a few months.

All you will see is the indicator light. Thanks for the kaltire suggestion. I will check them out.

Local dealers price out the 17" steel wheel to $219. 18" is $99! Go figure.

If I can get tire sizes in 18" - probably in Toyo then I might go with that. I'm guessing 17 will be easier to find.
