I have horrible wind noise once I hit 40mph it gets louder. I have to have the radio cranked sometimes to drown it out. It seems to be where the drivers door meets the rear ext.cab door.

I do too but not until 65mph or so. 40 seems unusual.
I think it's just the design because the rubber gaskets all look beefy and intact.
It does bother me a little on the highway because it's right behind my ear.
I have a 2011 SCAB.

Are your windows open? Moon roof open? The bug deflector definitely makes a difference if it works at all for deflecting bugs. THe ones that don't make any noise really don't do the job of deflecting bugs either.

When I hit around 60 MPH I head a whistling sound coming from the front of the vehicle. No idea what causes it other than maybe it's the shape of the front end of the truck is flat. I don't have a bug deflector.

The wind noise I hear in my truck comes in through the side window glass. Smaller cabs have less noise than larger cabs because they have less glass.

Unless it is a bad seal, the only way to fight wind noise coming in from the side window glass is to use thicker glass. Thicker glass is why German cars are often referred to as led-sleds because it is heavy.

Firsthand knowledge wise, my 2011 EB Lariat is quieter than many LUX cars. For example: it is quieter than my old Escalade (an '08) but is slightly louder than my '05 supercab (again because there is more glass).

Also, wind and weather seals tend to fail nowadays since everybody exposes them directly to the high pressure point on top of the A pillar. A quick way to check if the double weatherstrip has failed or is not sealing correctly is to stick your finger up under the inner seal and feel for a draft while you are driving down the road. Just run your finger along the inner window seal lifting up that seal as you go. If you feel a draft, bring your truck in and ask to talk to the wind and rattle guy or a tech who knows about wind and rattles. Keep in mind that your service writer may try to blow you off so talk to a tech because he or she is an idiot, isn't a tech, and normally doesn't know much about fixing cars and trucks.

I noticed the same thing when I bought mine. I have tried pulling in the mirrors as well. I also have a bug deflector on mine. May just have to live with it.

There is a cure put a piece of weather stripping foam under the center section of the bug shield it has to be about 3/8th thick and about 1/8 to 3/16 back from the front of the bug shield. It has worked for and many others on here.

I've noticed quite a bit of noise in mine when there is a head/cross wind blowing. VERY noticeable, and was quite shocked. I think the cab of my 2000 was quieter.

Its not like the wind is coming right through the seal, but you can hear the wind catching around the edge of the door.
