Default Wife's Escape Smarter Than My F-150

Wife has a '15 Escape Titanium with the tow package. I have a '14 Lariat. I just towed our jet ski with her car. First it told me I have a blinker/stop lamp out (truck doesn't do that). Then when I went to back up the trailer, it didn't beep at me (backup camera) the entire time. My truck always beeps at me. Seems like the truck would know I have a trailer hooked up and not beep.

Is there a setting on my truck that I haven't found for the trailer hook up or is my wife's Escape smarter than my truck? Please tell me this isn't true!!

Does your truck have the Integrated Trailer Brake Controller? Once I plug the 7-pin plug from my camper into the truck, it diables the backup sensor/alarm. Maybe something in the settings?

Can't help you with the bulb out indicator; seems like a nice feature.

Your truck won't beep if you hookup a trailer to the 7 pin connector. Your connector was likely 4 pin.

I haven't experimented with setting up a trailer manually, and then seeing if it beeps. Of course you can simply override it when you start the truck or when it starts to beep, but it resets when you turn the ignition off.

I tried if it doesn't see a trailer it beeps. I use a 7 pin to 5 pin adapter and I still don't get the truck saying I have a trailer.

Yep, I did the same thing. One of our boats has a 5 pin light hook up so I use a 7 pin to 5 pin. It still beeps. The wife's is a 4 pin. Seems that if Ford can make it work on the Escape with a 4 pin, they could make it work on a vehicle that will actually will see towing duty.

Yes, it does have the brake controller. I have plugged a 7 pin to a 5 pin converter in and it still didn't work.

Seems like it should work with either the 4 pin or the 7 pin.

Is it because the blinker bulb is out?

Not really sure what you are asking. We have four boats though and all of them beep with my truck and the jet ski one is the only one with a bulb out.

Oh OK. Do any of them have electric brakes? Maybe that's it.

Assinine question, as I dont have the rear sensors on my truck, will switching the tow-mode to 'on' have any impact on it?
