Hey guys,

I've been spending some time digging through threads and gathering a ton of information, so thank you for that! I'm getting ready to purchase a 2012/2013 Platinum Screw Ecoboost and want to have all my mods ready to go because I'm excited to make the truck look like some of the ones I see on here.

My questions are in regards to lifting the truck and stance. I will preface the rest of this post by thanking you for reading and responding because it's going to be a little long.


My preference is to run Trail Grapplers in a 325/50r22 with a 0 offset rim 22x9.5 rim. I noticed [MENTION=127892]2012platinum[/MENTION] ran 22x14's on the same tire which makes me wonder/nervous whether a 9.5 will look too narrow.

I want to run a 6" lift and there are many out there. I am a novice to lifting and don't fully understand some concepts and their benefits (looking at you rear block, AAL, coil overs, and control arms)

Anyone care to list the differences between the lifts(bds, zone, fab tech, RCX, Mcgaughys, etc? I have looked up specs on each so I'm more looking for info such as final rake, pros and cons, ride quality, etc. After the lift I want the truck to be leveled, and I will not be off-roading(yeah, yeah, street queen!)

I want an aggressive look but I do a lot of driving, I'm not worried about gas mileage, and I don't tow. I don't want to have to re-gear, so I assume 37's are out of the picture? I appreciate the help and I will take any and all info you can offer. I understand there is probably a thread but another one never hurts! As far as the difference in lifts there is a few minor differences but the others can be upgraded to be up to par with the others. Get the replacement coilovers if you want the best of the best although its not a necessity. Personally would go with the McGaughys just for aesthetics. If you're looking to save a little coin but still get a quality product, Zone IMO. Every truck is different so you'll need to play around with the lift components to get your final stance.

The offset of the 22x9.5" wheel will determine if its too narrow for you're liking. If its a common wheel (i.e. BMF) you can google search it and they'll be plenty of pics to compare what kind of stance it will provide.

With that heavy of a wheel/tire setup, you will lose performance. No way around it. Bare minimum, custom tune for the many tuners out there.

sorry for the late response... just saw the mention in my profile. I am running the 325/50/22 on a 14 wide wheel. it is a little stretched, but not bad. my personal opinion? if youre wanting to run 22's, but don't want crazy, i'd do a 6" lift( brand is up to you) with a set of 22x11's on the 325/50/22's. that'll give you some stance, without looking to wold, and still be completely driveable. if you don't want to regear, i'd stay away from the 37's unless you are ordering the truck with 3.73's or 4.10's. hope this helps. lmk if you got anymore questions. there are a bunch of members on here with plenty of info.

I ordered my Rancho 4in Lift from Stage 3. They are the best place for F150 stuff. Very helpful staff and have awesome customer service.
I went with Rancho because of the better shocks, 1/4in Thick 1 piece welded subframe, and they use an actual strut instead of a strut spacer.

Pick a tire size and go for the smallest amount of lift to run it. For example, 35's and a 4" lift would allow you to flex out and not rub. Adding a taller lift will just up the centre of gravity but wouldn't net you any more clearance under the axles. Keep in mind this was my philosophy when lifting my jeep. The narrow wheelbase and high lifts make those feel like a playground horse-on-a-coil-spring ride. The truck wouldn't be as extreme but it's the same idea.

I'm running the rancho quick lift and will be going to 33x12.5's in the fall. The quick lift rides better than stock imo. 35's would be nice but I'm not about to lift it more yet.

Everyone already knows what I think, but I'll throw it out here anyway. I think the McGaughys kit looks goofy cause it ends up making the pickup nose high (defeats the purpose of having a pickup) and all the other lifts except Skyjacker come with blocks instead of leaf springs, which is a rip off because you pay the same for a kit with $50 blocks as you do a kit like Skyjacker that comes with $500 leaf springs. Blocks cause axle wrap which is bad. The bad part about the Skyjacker is you have to run 20s or larger. If you already have 20s or are going to run 20s, I would say go with Skyjacker, hands down. If you can't/don't want to run 20s and don't care about axle wrap from blocks and don't mind spending an extra 4 - $500 for no reason, then go with any other lift out there. My .02.

The Rough Country kit comes with Block designed to eliminate axle wrap. I have the Rough Country kit on mine and im happy with it. I have not experience and axle wrap. Just go with a 6" kit and call it a day choose the company who you think you like the most and fits your budget and needs. If you truck is going to be on the street 90% of the time then they are all going to work just fine. Just keep in mind if you are going with 20's or not. I went with 18's im not big on huge flashy wheels i like more tire and sidewall then wheel.

I agree. I have the RCX lift on my truck, it has a bout 7k miles on it right now, and not the first problem. It's been offload, pulled trailers, down hunting roads, and some long road trips. My only regret, is I want to stretch it to 8.5". Can't with the RCX. I do have it stretched to 7.5". Rides great.
