Lariat with 18 or 20 inch chrome wheels?
I plan on ordering a 2012 Lariat 4x4 Ecoboost SCREW, max tow with chrome. Cannot decide if it is worth the extra $826 for 20 inch rims. Do not off road. I like the looks of the 20s but don't need any extra aggravation. On Tirerack the tire prices are about the same. Does anybody have any regrets with the size they have? Comments on ride, handling, tire life, brand?
Looks like now you get Goodyears at least the 18s.

When I bought my truck last year I opted for the 18" because at that time replacement tires for an 18" wheel were considerably less expensive than for 20" wheels. If tire prices are now comparable it is a matter of personal preference based on looks. I'm happy with the looks of mine and wouldn't pay any difference for larger wheels, let alone $800 more.

Rocketman, welcome to the forum. Congrats on gettin' the new truck. Mine has the 18". I have read here of the differences, but don't think it is enough to matter. As it's been said it's a matter of preference.
In the big scheme of things, $826 ain't that much when your paying over 40K for a truck. If you like the 20's, get 'em. You don't want to standing beside that new truck and think: "I wish I would have................."
If your like me the most off roading I do is pulling into the Starbuck's parking lot. So tire brand doesn't really matter. Mine has Michelin's, but if the Goodyear are round I'm happy.

IMO, 20s look better. What I would ask myself is if I'm ok paying extra now and each time I buy tires. If the answer is yes, go with the 20s. If no, stay with the 18s. If you get the 18s and wish you got to 20s, there's always ebay.

I have the 18's. When I ordered there were not as many tire choices with the 20's and they were more expensive. The 20's should ride a little rougher since there is less rubber in the mix...but doubt you would notice.

This is why I love this forum. . . . different opinions! My truck came with the 20's but dealer pulled them off the week before I bought to put on another truck and put the 18" chrome clad wheels and they are my favorite. I think the 20's the least!!! Not the size, just the look of the specific wheels!!!!

My BIL pulled his OEM rims off of his Lariat and went with after market. I plan on buying them from him and putting them on my XLT when my tires wear out. I'll be going from 17" to 18".
