Default SYNC and State Farm

I just received a letter in the mail today from my insurance company (State Farm).

Here is the link they say to goto for more information:
https://www.statefarm.com/insurance/...afe-save/sync/

I normally do not put on the 7,500 miles a year on my truck so if they are just going by that aspect then this would be great.

My question is if anyone else has done this or would know more information. Im not a big fan of "big brother" watching me drive. Are they only looking at the odo reading or am I going to get a notice in the mail that my premium is going up because I was doing 66 in a 60mph zone.

I just wanted to see other thoughts before going ahead with it.

Thanks

No idea but did you see this?

Does enrolling in the Drive Safe & Save program guarantee me a discount?

Most customers will see a discount with this program. However, if you are currently receiving a discount for low estimated annual mileage (under 7,500 miles annually for personal use) and the vehicle is actually driven more than that threshold, your premium may increase at a future renewal. Your State Farm agent can provide you with more details.

I did, and that does come into thought. However, with having a work car and a motorcycle additionally. That is how I keep the miles off my truck. I just did some rough numbers and Im about 4800 a year with it. Mostly towing the boat and jetski to the beach or hunting.

I guess I just have to look into the fact that is looking at the milage something I want to have to worry about.

I'm also wondering if you're already paying a low premium because of your low mileage maybe than you might not see savings either. Definitely a question for the agent.

I just looked at my latest vehicle health report and it does NOT show mileage any where. Don't see how they can offer a discount for low miles driven unless they have a separate dongle that you plug in like the one progressive is offering.

?????

Exclamation SYNC does transmit mileage

It DOES, however, update the mileage in the main FLMowner.com page.
So, the mileage update had to be a part of the SYNC transmission......

Exclamation sync download

I just went and run a VHR. Sync did upload the current exact mileage to the Owner Center. Had to come from the Sync transmission...

So as long as I stay under the 7,500, that 'should' be the only thing they are looking at.

I used the one from Progressive and I hated it. They knew exactly what time I was driving, how fast I was going and how many times I hit the brakes hard. It would actually beep if I hit the brakes too hard. I had one in my truck and my Camaro. I hit over 100 mph in the Camaro a few times while passing and I don't think they liked that.
While my rates went down initially, at my next two renewals they went up drastically. I have since switched to Geico, and I am literally saving $75.00 a month over Progressive. If I were you, I wouldn't do it!

I've been with Geico for several years now, they beat everyone when I got quotes, the only thing I dislike about them is they make my motorcycle policy separate from my auto policy, I still get multi vehicle discounts but only because of my wife's truck is on the same policy as my truck.

I love the fact they offer a winter/storage policy discount for my bike, gives me 70% discount when stored.
